Irony seems to be inherent in the winter. Because all too often, just when you need your boiler most, it decides to give up on you. and adding to the irony, it is not only your boiler but several hundred other people's boilers that have broken down at the same time. Leaving your local plumber starved for time and parts to go around. But thankfully there are other ways to keep warm while the heating has halted. You might consider wrapping yourself in several layers of blankets, ideally into the shape of a burrito. Failing that, you might try to stuff your shirt full of hot water bottles, though this is easier said than done and requires a reliable kettle. Or if you are truly clever (which you obviously are) you can employ several heartwarming cat children to gather around your cold contorted body and keep both your extremities and your soul warm and toasty.

While this moment is marvelously sweet, you cannot help but wonder if it was a set-up. Because it is nigh on impossible to ask someone to make a long distance delivery of a rescued cat child and not expect them to fall in love with the sweet creature along the way.
